A free loyalty system. No purchases. No paywalls.

Credits are Barracks Life's free engagement reward. You see your balance in the HQ tab of the app. Credits are earned, never bought — there is no in-app purchase, no payment, and no way to spend real money on Credits. They exist to reward members for being part of the community.

Quick answer for the curious: Credits are a participation score and optional feature currency. Members earn them by signing up, completing their profile, getting verified, and being active. They are not required to message, match, or use any core feature of Barracks Life. Optional extras like Spotlight and Gifts can be unlocked with Credits — all earned for free, no purchases.

How to earn Credits

Credits are granted automatically by the app when you reach certain milestones. There is nothing to buy and nothing to claim — they appear in your balance the next time you open the HQ tab.

Joining Barracks Life — every new member receives a starter balance of Credits when their account is created.
Adding a profile photo — adding your first photo grants Credits, since complete profiles make the community better for everyone.
Setting your branch and orientation — tells the community who you are and earns Credits.
Completing identity verification — completing the selfie + liveness check (and optionally the Verified Vet review) grants the largest Credit reward, since verified profiles are what makes Barracks Life trustworthy.
Daily activity — opening the app on consecutive days awards small daily Credits, encouraging steady community engagement.
Posting in Squads — sharing posts and getting engagement in the community feed earns Credits.
Inviting other members — when someone signs up via your invite, both of you receive Credits.

What Credits do today

Credits serve two purposes: a community engagement score you can see in the HQ tab, and an optional currency for extras inside the app. All Credits are earned for free — there is no purchase required to spend them.

Spotlight — spend Credits to boost your profile to the top of Discover for a set period, so more members see you first.
Gifts — browse the gift catalog and send a virtual gift to someone you're chatting with. The recipient sees the gift in the conversation.

Core features — matching, messaging, Squads, Intel, Safety — remain fully free and do not require Credits.

What Credits will do next

Future updates will add more optional ways to spend Credits. Planned additions include:

Sending a Salute (super-like) to stand out in someone's feed
Adding a flair badge (Pride, branch crest, anniversary) to your profile
Donating Credits to community causes featured in Intel

When new options launch they will be announced in the app and updated on this page.

What Credits are not

Not a currency — they have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for money.
Not for sale — there is no in-app purchase, no website checkout, no way to acquire them with money.
Not transferable — you cannot send your Credit balance to another member (sending a Gift spends your own Credits on that recipient, it does not transfer the balance).
Not required — every core feature of Barracks Life (matching, messaging, Squads, Intel, Safety) is fully available with zero Credits.

If you think your Credit balance is wrong, or you didn't receive Credits you expected after a milestone, write to support@barrackslife.com with your username and we'll look into it within one business day.
